Opportunity to work with Greyhounds in the Christchurch area

GAP is looking for a kennel base and foster carers in this region.

Now our North Island base is well established we are expanding our acivities in the South Island. We recently welcomed Cate as our South Island Regional Co-ordinator and now urgently need to establish a kennel base to prepare greyhounds for pet life in this region.

Our kennel managers will need the following -

Kennelling space for 6 to 8 greyhounds
Experience in dog behaviour and training techniques
Experience with working with the public

In the meantime our foster carers are providing a vital role in helping rehome greyhounds in the South Island. If you live in the Christchurch area, have a well fenced section and time to teach a dog about life as a pet then please contact us.

For more information please contact jacqui@greyhoundsaspets.org.nz or call 04 528 0460

Steadfast Friends

Please take a look at our new web page listed under Favourites.

Many people have asked us how they can help with our work so we have set up Steadfast Friends - a new scheme whereby you can help the greyhounds who need you most!

GAP Launch!

Greyhounds As Pets was officially launched by the Rt. Hon. Winston Peters on 29 March 2006.

Thank you to all those who are supporting the programme. We've had a great response so far from both trainers entering greyhounds in the programme and helping move our dogs to their new homes and from people wishing to adopt them. A big thank you to those people who have offered to foster our greyhounds and also those who've helped us at promotions!

Rosie - Our very first Greyhound adopted

Rosie is the first greyhound to be adopted through the programme. She has gone to live with Christine and Steve in the Wairarapa where she is enjoying chasing bumble bees around their garden with her new buddy 'Tiny' - a large German Shepherd X Retriever!
